The European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation, GDPR, Has Changed The World Of Privacy Law.  In this presentation, technology and trial lawyer Rick Jeffries will describe the fundamental differences in philosophy between the US and the rest of the world when it comes to privacy, discuss the jurisdictional provisions of GDPR so you can evaluate whether you may have to comply with it, and examine GDPR’s major provisions where they differ from US privacy law.

Rick Jeffries is a trial lawyer, computer geek and Certified Information Privacy Professional/US and will provide an overview of privacy laws relevant to records professionals.

Rick's trial practice focuses on complex commercial matters, with particular emphasis on technology, information security and privacy law, insurance and reinsurance, securities litigation and FINRA arbitrations, real estate disputes, trademark, intellectual property, and creditors' rights.

Rick has nearly 25 years of commercial litigation experience in a number of industries, including health care, banking, securities, insurance and reinsurance, intellectual property, and construction. He has an advisory practice in information security, technology and privacy, and regularly advises clients on the regulatory and liability aspects of information security.
