    Ane McBride has been the Records Manager for the Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy (NDEE) since 2000.  Prior to the NDEE, Ane worked for the Jefferson County Public Library System in Colorado and for the Library/Archives Division of the Nebraska State Historical Society.  Ane holds a B.A. in English from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.  She served on the ARMA Nebraska Board of Directors as librarian, VP, President and Past President between 2009 and 2017.

    Case Study - Records Now and Then - Paper to ECM

    The Dept. of Environmental Control (now Dept. of Environment and Energy) was created in 1971.  In the 70’s, all business was conducted via paper and agency staff were left to manage their own records with very little guidance.  The Nebraska Public Records Act was not passed until 1979. Paper records were everywhere. 

    The agency began organizing records and established an indexing protocol in 1995. Four years later, the Records Section was established to manage the paper with the intention of someday scanning all of the records to images.  In 2011, the migration to electronic records became a reality. 

    This Case Study demonstrates the impact that going digital made to agency staff, the EPA and to the public.
